KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own Department
? Perform strength calculations of structures and fittings in Ansys, or in any other given software or
method
? Make strength calculation reports
? Contribute to the development of department and calculation processes and software tools.
? Review the strength calculation results with designers, and advise them about construction
improvements.
? Collate and archive calculations when necessary.
? Review and interpret rules and codes related to our equipment.
? Ensure that the latest calculation tools, best practices and rules are used within the engineering
team.
? Develop Script, Excel templates, MathCad template etc in order to enhance productivity
Other Departments
? Assist with calculations on existing structures.
? Support Product Owners or other relevant departments with analysis of damaged structures, best
practices and efficient structural solutions.
? Support Production Control with requirements for welds, detail categories etc.
? Support Installation and on-site personnel with calculations for transportation, adjustments etc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
● M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture
Experience:
● Experience with structural analysis calculations within the marine industry is advantageous but is
not mandatory.
Competencies:
● Strength calculation basic knowledge.
● Basic knowledge of Ship Structures.
● Calculation tools and methods: ANSYS/SpaceClaim,Inventor, AutoCAD or any other FEM tool.
● Basic knowledge of steel material properties.
● Basic knowledge of class society Rules and Regulations.
● Basic presentation and communication skills.
