Job Duties
· Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive social emotional learning programs that align with the school’s mission and values.
· Work on SEL curriculum development, which includes preparing effective diverse lesson units based on the school’s curriculum development formats using the Understanding by Design
(UbD).
· Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to integrate SEL strategies into the curriculum and daily school activities.
· Identify students in need of counseling services and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
· Develop and implement counseling programs and workshops on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, self-esteem building and stress management.
· Be comfortable working with advanced and motivated students who have strong academic backgrounds as well as remedial students needing special attention.
· Assist students in setting and achieving academic and personal goals, providing guidance on study skills, time management, and decision making.
· Act as a resource for teachers and staff on management techniques, classroom strategies, and effective communication with students.
· Serve as substitute teacher when needed.
· Attend department meetings, PLC and take an active role in meetings and events (departmental, grade level, committees, faculty, etc.) to
contribute to the overall educational environment.
· Perform other duties as needed (e.g. coach a sports team, handle remedial classes)
Effective Class Teaching
? Develop and utilize comprehensive lesson plans following the Understanding by
Design framework that aligns with established curriculum standards (e.g.,
Common Core, state music standards) in 20 periods teaching load.
? Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
that encourages student growth, critical thinking skills, and a love for learning
? Implement a variety of instructional methods, materials, and strategies to meet
diverse learning needs and abilities of all students
? Manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies, promoting mutual
respect and a supportive classroom culture of Honor, Community, Excellence,
and Joy.
Required Skills in Music Performance
? Extensive knowledge of music theory, vocal and instrumental techniques, and a
variety of music genres.
? Passion for teaching music in ways that are engaging and relatable for students from
elementary to advanced levels.
? Experienced in directing performances and organizing school music events.
Student Evaluation
? Implement formative and assumptive assessments to monitor student progress
and adjust teaching approaches for differentiated learners
? Provide regular, constructive feedback focused on students’ problem-solving
processes in preparation for Parent-Teacher conferences
? Monitor student progress and adapt instructional methods as necessary,
maintaining accurate grades and communication with parents using ManageBac,
ClassDojo, and email.
Student Support and Care
? Monitor assigned supervision duties which include morning exercise, lunch, and
recess duty
? Proactively meet and communicate with parents/guardians, students and other
teachers when necessary to develop interventions for students with academic,
emotional/behavioral or other needs
Communication and Collaboration
? Collaborate with grade level and subject teachers to support curriculum
development and implementation
? Maintain open communication with students, parents, and faculty through updates
and meetings
? Engage in discussions with department heads regarding curriculum effectiveness
and student outcomes.
Administrative Support
? Organize and participate in, at least, two academic and social events that enhance
student learning experiences (e.g., Winter Concert, Spring Extravaganza, Sports
Day, etc…)
? Serve as a substitute teacher when needed
? Take an active role in required meetings (departmental; grade level; committees,
faculty; etc.)
? Support the work of grade-level initiatives including sponsored student
clubs/activities
? Assist with additional duties as assigned during school-wide events
Self-Management Skills
? Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional skills
and share best practices in departmental meetings
? Demonstrate strong positive commitment toward school improvement
? Demonstrate commitment to integrated education at the elementary level
including innovations and best practices
? Develop and follow the established elementary language arts’ curriculum
including designing units to support it
? Knowledgeable about the American-style elementary education system and how
primary level classroom instruction integrates into it
? Comfortable working in a school that integrates Chinese and American style
educational philosophies
? Comfortable with computers for school related purposes including data
management, email, and MS Office programs
? Fluent in both oral and written English at a professional standard
? Desire to actively engage in professional development opportunities as provided
by the school or through individual initiative
? Flexible in adapting to a multi-cultural environment with school community

Education and Work Experience Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field
* Valid teaching certificate
* At least 2 years full-time teaching in K-12 setting preferred
