Stack Modular is a design+build modular company specializing in purpose-built steel modular projects throughout the world, with a focus on the North American
market. With offices in China, Canada, and the US, our international team,
comprised of Sales & Marketing/BD, Design & Project Management,
Procurement, Production, and Logistics Departs, is structured to tackle some of
the most challenging markets in the US, Canada and other parts of the world.
Another dynamic that separates our company from the competition is our
partnership with Bird Construction, a publicly traded GC and one of the largest
in Canada. They're instrumental in managing and optimizing our client and
project relationships to ensure we're delivering fully-serviced and turn-key construction solutions.
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead our team of engineers and architects, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
Responsibilities and duties
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the design team to
ensure timely, accurate delivery of shop drawings in alignment with
project schedules.
- Quality Control: Review shop drawings to ensure compliance with
project specifications and standards, maintaining high-quality output.
- Inspire Excellence: Foster a culture of unity and set a
personal example of work excellence for the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements in
shop drawings to improve quality, ensuring clearer communication of design
and detail with consultants and the production team.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Work closely with Project Management
(PM), procurement, and production teams to ensure timely project delivery.
- Information Flow: Facilitate seamless communication between the
design team and other departments to ensure effective information sharing.
- BIM Standards Management: Collaborate with BIM
Managers to uphold BIM standards, ensuring clash-free models that can
deliver accurate information to our procurement team.
- Support on the NA Team: Provide assistance to the Canada
design team as required, maintaining consistency across projects.
- Implementation of Lessons Learned: Implement lessons
learned from completed projects to apply best practices to future work.
- Standardization: Drive the standardization of design details
across both offices, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
- Innovation with Technology: Embrace and explore AI and other
technologies to streamline the design, modeling, and sheet creation
processes in partnership with BIM Managers.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Construction,
Engineering, Design, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in the design and construction industry, with a preference for candidates with modular construction expertise.
- Team Management: Demonstrated experience in managing
and leading a team effectively.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Revit is preferred, with an
ability to adapt to new design tools and technologies.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal English skills, with the ability to
communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including clients,
technical teams, and operational staff.
- Leadership: Inspirational leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor,
guide, and develop team members.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time-management, multitasking abilities,
and attention to detail.
- Proactive by nature with a desire to push the company and modular construction in new and exciting directions.
